cleaning ears
A step-by-step protocol to clean the lovely ears of your dog.
The trick here is to make your dog think he's getting a great massage. So be tricky and sneaky. It's all about "acting as if". Disclaimer: if your dog is very nervous and has a tendency to bite, you can put a muzzle on, just in case.
Get some gauze, ear cleaning solution, and an able-bodied person or two.
Massage your dog's ear by the canal (right where the jaw meets the ear) until the dog's all into it, maybe leaning and groaning some. Don't use any of the supplies, just use your hand for this step.
Now use the gauze and massage your dog's ear with your one finger inside the gauze, make a tunnel with the gauze and stick your finger in the ear itself. Keep massaging, this is a trick to make your dog think this whole process is great.
When the dog is comfortable, put the tip of the bottle of the solution in where your finger just was. Massage with the bottle. Don't squeeze yet.
