louisiana animals...

awhile back, I posted something small about the "Noah's Wish" organization when the tsunami happened. this group specifically helps the animals that get swept up in natural disasters, and usually left behind by their owners for one reason or another. i got this email from a reader on friday:

I honestly feel for the people, so I realize this may sound
awful. But can we start doing something to prepare for the animals? I'm
way up in Alaska and I feel awful for all of the pets that are suffering
along with the humans.

From: Julie

so your answer, julie? donate to Noah's Wish. there are also animal shelters all over the u.s. who are sending people down there to scoop up abandoned animals and put them up for adoption back at their shelters. right now, Noah's Wish has set up a shelter to care for the animals rescued from houses (they found a chihuahua stranded in a kitchen sink the other day), injured by falling debris or hit by cars, and strays. i'm sure they're exhausted and working more than any of us can imagine, so send them what you can- they have a section of the site that tells you what they need (cat gloves, rabies poles, etc...) so if you don't have much money-wise, you can send them a little something else.

i know none of you louisianans can read this now because you're out of power, but we're all crying and disturbed by this whole thing and we want it to be over for you as soon as possible. meanwhile, it seems the whole country is coming together to help you...
