questions from readers: stankbreath

lulubody.jpg Dog question: killer breath. How do I get rid of it? Not me, the dog. I tried doggy toothpaste, but its a hassle like I'm sure you know. I can barely remember to brush my own twice a day. The treats that are supposed to freshen breath don't work. I mean its rank.

(from Lulu's Father)

Answer: Well, she's probably got a tooth problem which means you might want to get her a dental procedure which means you will have to knock her out and pay a chunk of $ for it. Don't feed her anything soft like jerky treats or wet dog food. Only crunchy biscuit-like stuff that she has to work at to disintegrate. Knuckle bones are good too for teeth and boredom. But they're gross and they smell sometimes. Greenies get the gas face.

There's not much you can do besides the dental thing that actually works. And don't feed her hot dogs and beer, no matter how much you really want to.
