Buying a dog from a breeder is risky, just like getting a dog from anywhere else is. Lots of people don't know what to look for, what questions to ask, etc. Here's a pretty good article on what to look for in a breeder, including what THEIR attitude towards YOU is (i.e. they should be interested in whether you have the right living situation for this particular dog).
