how this freaky site works...

product review-"Comfort Zone" plug-in thingie

Click to see what the one head means...

My dog had a bad bad bad case of separation anxiety that was making him absolutely psychotic, so I tried almost all avenues before I ultimately had to put him on anti-anxiety meds (clomicalm). Anywho, of course I tried the comfort zone plug-in with the "dog appeasing pheromones" (D.A.P.). It ran me about $30 when the shipping was all said and done, which is alot for me to blow just like that on an experiment, but I did it anyway. I saw absolutely NO difference in his anxiety levels, destructive episodes, etc; I sold it on ebay. A month or two later, a veterinarian friend of mine told me that if you use the pheromone treatment, YOU CANNOT USE ANY OTHER CHEMICAL IN THE AREA THAT IS BEING TREATED OR ELSE IT WILL NEUTRALIZE THE PHEROMONE.

Good to know.

Catalog Review- "in the company of dogs"

This catalog is definitely worth a visit to the site to request it. It's well done (layout & photos) and the products are swanky. They've got the whole William Wegman line of dog things, funny dog art and cutesy dog clothes, among other things. A little on the pricey side as far as I'm concerned (around $70 for the quilted vest below), but worth a gander. And if you feel like how I feel about catalogs, this
one's a keeper. This one gets a 4 Hank heads rating. Click on the Hank heads to find out how I rate stuff. Request a catalog here.

And, perhaps the most compelling reason to git yerself a catalog from this company is this:

trying to find a way to get this on the site...

I love these so much- they're a porcelain version of the takeout trash we all get from the greek restaurant and then toss away. She even has a white version with a golden outline.(!) Anyhoo, you can use these to feed your ungrateful dog or cat and everyone will ask where you got them at. Toodles!

poochie-bells.com for dog doorbells...

tn_grapevinedoor.jpgPoochie-Bells

This is what I've been talking about on every photo post I write lately. You, yourself could possess a poochie-bell, you know. Enter the June photo contest and you might just be that guy. My obsession is well underway, and I want you all to come down the coaster with me. Fast. Poochie-bells. Poochie-bells. (like a chant...)

I tell people to use bells on the door to get their dogs to give them an audible signal when they need to go outdoors. Just tie a few bells to a ribbon and hang them from the doorknob. I always tell people this. Constantly. A thinking human being with a business mind came up with the idea to create a standard set of bells/ribbons PLUS the option to CUSTOMIZE. My lands, was this a good idea. I am a fool for anything that I can have some say in the creative process of. This site lets you choose which grosgrain ribbon will be on the poochie-bells set, you have the option of changing the ribbon down the line, and they even have a training section on how to get your dog to ring them bells. I happen to think it's a glorious idea, hope it takes off, and want you to contact me at m@dropthatsock, or you could just post a comment using the link on the entry if you order one of them and like it. Great idea, lady. I love it.

Update: I have received my very own customized set of bells from poochie-bells.com, and they are groovy! I chose the green color (for designers) and it makes a great ringiddy-ring sound, not like the cheap-like-meryl-streep bells I bought at some craft store for 2c. These are the real deal. Get some.
