ninja goes hog wild for guests.. #5

ninjabody.jpgThe pup is still doing well. The next hurdle is to get him to come down to a sane energy level when visitors come over. His explosion of happiness is too much for anyone- jumping, barking, playbiting , and anything else he can think of.

What he's wanting at that moment is attention from the guest, and he's "going for the gold", as they say. He has to now learn to hold the floodgates of insanity shut by using self-control. From now on, he must sit-stay or down-stay if a person is at the door. As long as he's controlling himself, the human can come in slowly. If Ninja breaks the command, it takes longer for the person to come in. He gets no attention, no eye contact or anything unless he's remaining in the command. His energy level must be a 2 on a scale of 1-10 in order to be released and say his hellos. If he decides to go back to level 10, he's sitting and staying alll over again (torture), until he gets it together. This is important because if someone visits you and your dog is all over them, it's a reflection of YOU. It makes you look irresponsible and lazy. Not to be harsh, but it's true, you know... Wouldn't it be nicer for everybody if he just sat and waited? Think about it.
